Very few conservatories are alike so all Oakhurst conservatory blinds are bespoke and manufactured to the exact design drawn up by the conservatory blind expert who will visit you. Comprehensive quality control procedures are in place and these ensure that the product fits and performs as designed.

Conservatory roof blinds are required to withstand conditions vastly different to those found within normal shading situations. The blinds are situated at the highest point in the conservatory where temperatures have been recorded as high as 63o C, therefore, a worthwhile roof blind system must be made from substantial components designed to last.

Heat reflective blinds made from a hard wearing fabric are also essential for a hot conservatory. As roof blinds lie in a horizontal position they are subjected to the effects of insects, condensation, dripping wood resin, dirt and dust and therefore a plastic non-stick backing layer is essential.

Oakhurst Conservatory Blinds - Design and Manufacture
Oakhurst has been at the forefront of Conservatory blind design since 1989 and we have found pleated blinds to be the most suitable option for conservatory roofs. They out-perform pinoleum blinds, solar film or the solar inserts sometimes used with polycarbonate roofs.

Oakhurst Conservatory Blinds - Design and Manufacture Pleated blinds or plisse as they are sometimes known, offer the following advantages over roof roller blinds, which were originally the most popular solution.

arrow  Dirt and dust accumulating behind the blind between cleans cannot be rolled onto the face side of the fabric.

arrow  No complicated control cords, pulleys or cleats required
arrow  Easy to clean
arrow  Easy to operate
arrow  Cannot sag

All of our pleated roof blinds have an equal pleating system to hold the form of the pleats, this is essential for shaped blinds as without it the line of the fabric edge becomes curved and large unsightly gaps appear. Oakhurst was the first company to develop an equal pleating system.
