Conservatory Roof Blinds |
| |
 |
| |
 |
 |
For roof blind arrangements
we only offer pleated blinds and
have arrived at this decision
over the years based upon our
experience with other systems
which can be summarised as follows:- |
| |
|
 |
 |
 |
Pleated Roof Blinds
Oakhurst can supply you with beautiful
looking pleated roof blinds available
in a large variety of fabric ranges,
types and colours. We can cope
with almost any design of conservatory
as all of our blinds are tailor-made
to exactly fit your conservatory.
Within the colour ranges of fabrics
available there is a range of
fabric backings available and
each has a different purpose.
Thermal control, for instance,
is designed specifically to keep
heat out.
This conservatory has Thermal
Control Blinds fitted yet
there is plenty of light still
available inside the conservatory...
Pleated roof blinds are a self
contained unit that is corded
and tensioned, this means that
the blinds do not sag and that
they stay in the position that
you put them whether that is open,
closed or anything in between.
The blinds are conveniently operated
using the operating pole which
we supply with each installation.
The advantage to this method is
that it is not necessary to have
control cords for each individual
blind as this can be unsightly.
Versatility is the main advantage
to pleated blinds, not only can
they be made in a wide variety
of shapes, they can also be made
to operate from side to side as
well as up and down. |

The Shapesure™
System
All Oakhurst's blinds are fitted
with an equal pleating system.
Oakhurst pioneered pleated blind
design by introducing the “Shapesure™
System” which is a durable
system designed to ensure that
the fabric pleats are equally
spaced and that they maintain
their shape.
 |
Originally pleated triangular
blinds were made by pulling
the fabric almost flat... |
 |
|
 |
Blinds made with the correct
number of “full”
pleats have sides that bow
inward (gravity causes the
top pleats to flatten and
the bottom pleats become
“overfull”.
Some manufacturers cover
the gap, caused by bowing,
with strips of plastic which
adds expense and can be
unsightly. |
 |
|
 |
The Shapesure™
System ensures that the
pleats are equally spaced
and the edges are straight. |
Originally, there was no way to
space pleats equally and manufacturers
had no alternative other than
to pull the fabric completely
flat or allow pleats to gather
at the bottom of the blind. This
caused the sides of the fabric
to bow inwards, leaving gaps between
the blinds and the conservatory
beams. Early attempts to conceal
the bowing effect by adding strips
of plastic to the conservatory
beams are now unnecessary due
to the Shapesure™
System.
Conservatory blinds do not lend
themselves to mass production.
At Oakhurst we believe that it
is worth raising the specification
of each individual component rather
than trying to make economies.
Shapesure™ System
is another example of this policy.
Oakhurst pleated blinds are covered
by a five
year guarantee and a full
after
sales service is available.
Cleaning the blinds is a straight
forward operation and in most
cases does not involve taking
the blinds down. |
